Just call me Elmer Fudd

I went rabbit hunting tonight!!! Not really, at least not intentionally. I was mowing the back yard when my foot went over a hole/soft spot in the ground. I thought to myself, "darn mole!" Boy was I wrong!! When I turned around to mow the next strip of grass, I saw something moving ahead of me! I quickly shut the mower off and yelled at Dan to move the moving thing. I thought it might have been a bird or something at first, but when I got closer, I saw that it was a baby bunny! I seriously almost started to cry b/c I thought I had killed it. Luckily the mower blades were to high to injure it, but I think I might have squished it some when I stepped on the nest. I then investigated the 'soft spot' only to have another baby come bounding out at me. Momma bunny wasn't to be found. Hopefully she'll be back. I am curious as to why she picked the middle of our backyard to build her nest.
This is the nest...can you see why I missed it?! Just looked like a pile of grass clippings.

Anyway, no bunnies were injured after all. Thank goodness! I can handle squishing bugs or snakes but not cute little bunnies!!

This is the sweet little guy (post squishing) cowering by the fence.

Andean Collection Jewelry

As a wearer of simple and plain colored clothing, I like to add color with my jewelry. I happened to stumble across some simple, but beautiful jewelry at the Prissy green blog. Check out the Andean Collection. Please read their blog/story. Not only is this jewelry beautiful, but it is environmentally friendly, hand made, and any purchase is helping to support some family in Ecuador. What a cool company!

The vegetable fairy

If you don't know already, my dear, sweet daughter eats next to nothing. That's NOT an exaggeration! I have tried about everything in the book to get her to eat and try new things. Over the past several months, we have had a little progress. She's added spaghetti and pizza (minus the cheese!) to her list of acceptable foods. On a whim last night, I told her that if she didn't try the carrots we were having for dinner, the vegetable fairy would come take her away to a place where they ate ONLY veggies! I was really only kidding with her, but she took this to heart! She ate 2 bites of carrots without even complaining! I know you're thinking...2 bites? We celebrate the smallest victories in this house!! ;) And then again this morning, I had cut up a kiwi for Anderson and she took a bite of that so the fairy wouldn't get her! Maybe this is wrong, but she is trying new things without throwing a HUGE fit so I may just run with this idea for awhile. I think she will quickly find that other foods can be yummy, not just chicken fingers and fish sticks! :)

So if you haven't noticed, my new hobby is entering giveaways that I come across on different blogs. I found one today that fits just perfectly with the story above! At 3 Garnets & 2 Sapphires, there was a review/giveaway of YoBaby 3 in 1 meals. I was intrigued. The kids already eat the YoBaby yogurt so what could be better than eating something you already like while getting the added benefit of vegetables. Check them out! We are totally going to try these in our house...we have to keep the vegetable fairy away! ;)
