Rain, Rain Go Away

Last year, I wanted to get tickets for Dan to see David Beckham play. He has always been a fan, even before he started playing in the MLS. I tried to get tickets for him to see Beckham's team, the LA Galaxy, when they played in Chicago. However, they were sold out. ;( So this year, I was online the minute they went on sale and got us 2 tickets to see the game on Aug. 21st in Chicago! Our fun filled evening began to unravel a bit earlier in the week when Beckham received a red card in the game prior to the one we were seeing which meant we weren't going to get to see him play. Disappointing, but there are other good players we were excited to see, Donovan being the main one. Then we heard Donovan had the swine flu! Luckily, he was recovered enough to play. Then the weather forecast went from not too good to TERRIBLE. There was over a 90% chance of thunderstorms. We decided to go anyway, after all we had already paid for the tickets. We we arrived in Chicago, it began to pour so hard that visibility was poor. Next the thunder and lightening started. We canceled our hotel so we could get our points back and almost turned around to drive home. They weren't really going to play in weather like this, were they?? We decided to at least stop by the box office and ask about chances of cancellation/rescheduling. When we get there, you can't get to the box office without paying the $15 to park. By the time we parked, the rain had slowed to a light shower. We had ponchos with us so we figured we could handle a little rain. By the time we got into the stadium, got some food, and sat down, it had stopped raining! Dan kept watching the radar on his phone and we could see the massive front coming toward us. We thought we we going to get soaked. We watched God perform a weather miracle because it was moving so quickly over us that it didn't rain at all the entire game! Neither of us had been to a professional soccer game. It was way more entertaining than I ever could have imagined! I think we may make it a yearly event now! Of course I forgot my camera in the truck so no pics. :(
