And he speaks!
For those of you who knew Ava when she was little, she had quite the vocab by the time she was 18months. Anderson, on the other hand, has been what I like to call a "selective mute." He really has said nothing but mama for months. At his 12 month check up, I shrugged it off when they said he should have b/t 4-7 words. Some kids have to be below average so there can be an average right? But as 18 months approached and he still wasn't saying anything, I started to get a little concerned. I started to wonder what the Dr. would say when we went to his check up. But FINALLY about 2 weeks ago, he started saying several words. He now has around 15 words. I honestly think he has the ability to say many more words, but why talk when Ava will do it for you!

I didn't speak until I was two, really. My parents were worried, but I had 2 older sisters and my mom stayed home with me...so, really I didn't have to talk...they knew my every grunt and emotion without words. Even then, I talked like I was Chinese...ha! I had really slanted eyes, too, so you can only imagine the jokes. They said they thought I was switched at birth.
so funny and the truth is that a younger sibling will keep his words inner if the parent or older sibling will do all they need learned this when one of my 6 was unable to talk
This is common...every child is different, and pediatricians should not scare parents. My sister did not speak even mama until almost two, and by three, she wouldn't stop talking, and a friend of mine got scared that her child of over two would not say a word (even though he understood, and responded to others...he would not utter a sound). Today he is five and talks quite a bit...sometimes it just takes a while, each child is different. I don't know any mute adults.
